Nearly 50% Of Americans Said They Won’t Be Giving Out Candy This Halloween

Ingredients

With Halloween fast approaching, many of us have carved our pumpkins, stocked up on candy and have our best costumes already planned out or picked up - but with the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, a startling 46% of Americans said they will not be giving out candy this year. The CDC has named trick-or-treating, our beloved Halloween tradition, as a higher-risk option.

So, unfortunately, it looks like most Americans will be refraining from this age-old activity. Even a study by Apartment Guide gathered data from 3,000 survey respondents, and 46% of respondents said that they would not be giving out Halloween candy this year.

Another 24% said they would instead leave a bowl of candy outside their home, while only 30% said they’ll be at their doors handing it out the old-school, traditional way.

Nearly 50% of American said they won’t be giving out candy this halloween

Interestingly enough, only about 1 in every 3 people are planning to give out candy! According to the survey, it appears that it seems equally split up amongst age groups too - 18-24-year-olds making up the smallest portion at 11% and 55-64-year-olds make up the largest percentage at 21%. And 34% of those surveyed said they would still be going out for candy.

What will you be doing this year? Whatever you decide, please remember to have fun and most importantly, stay safe! There is absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating at home with a giant bag of candy and a scary movie marathon!
